The proposed extension would by reason of its height, size, design, fenestration and materials be harmful to the character and appearance of this attractive historic farmhouse competing visually with the existing building. Furthermore, the extension would alter the scale and character of the building to the detriment of the visual amenities of the countryside. The development would, therefore, conflict with the policies of Havant Borough District Wide Local Plan 1996-2011 and, in particular, policies C1 and D1.
